Mounting and Lamination
Now that we have printed those beautiful color prints, it is time to
mount them and protect them. Popular choices range from white foam core to quarter inch or half inch black gator board. An additional transparent layer of satin or gloss laminate will create a barrier against dust and UV light damage. Your image can also be sandwiched and sealed between two laminate layers (encapsulation) for defense against all of the elements.
For extra protection on your foam core mounted images, ask one of our color specialists about our ProEDGESystems® framing options
in a variety of colors and metallic tones.
Mounting

Mounting is the technique of fastening a print, photograph or other flat media to a mounting board by placing an adhesive layer on top of the mounting board, such as foam core or gator board.

Lamination

Lamination (overlam) is the process of placing a heated transparent adhesive layer over a print, photograph or other flat media. Laminates are available in glossy or satin finishes.

Encapsulation

Encapsulation is the process of placing a heated transparent adhesive layer above and below a print, photograph or other flat media. There is a border of clear laminate film which is sealed on all sides and corners in the applied heating process. This results in the image being protectively sealed between the laminate layers. These laminate layers are available in a glossy or satin finish. |
